This song was written in 1973 and inspired by my then manager Roy Lister telling me he had noticed that no matter whether it was good or bad, all major life changes for him had always occurred on a Thursday. The rest of the lyric simply appeared. I think I wrote this one in ten minutes.
lyrics
Thursday, have you found another reason
Why you lied and made me cry when I was younger
Thursday, have you looked around and found
There is nothing in the sound that made you wonder
And it’s hard to believe
When you can’t find a reason for Thursday
And the memories return
Come to burn and earn their place among my feelings
Thursday and the rain was pouring down
As I lay back and I frowned up at the ceiling
And it’s hard to believe
When you can’t find a reason for Thursday
There was something I said
That went round in my head on Thursday
But it can’t matter now I forget anyhow on Thursday
Thursday and I’m caught here alone
With no love of my own to be smiling
Thursday, yes it’s all much the same
It’s a game on a name spoke in silence
And it’s hard to believe
When you, you can’t find a reason for Thursday
Good old Thursday, good old Thursday
