This song starts off very critical of others’ confusion and ineptitude and inability to think for themselves, resulting in blind adherence to dogma. It then moves through condemnation of apathy and the postponement of personal happiness. However, it ends up becoming personal and a confession that just like others I am, indeed, out on a limb.
lyrics
There’s one out on a limb and he don’t know where to begin
Root toot tooty, root toot tooty, why
There’s one out on a wave, and he don’t know who to save
Root toot tooty, root toot tooty, why
There’s one up in a cloud, and he’s talking much too loud
Root toot tooty, root toot tooty, why
So you drink and think it up, pass along the coffee cup
Root toot tooty, root toot tooty, why
Somewhere up there in a tower, there’s another happy hour
Root toot tooty, root toot tooty, why
And so you drink and think it up, pass along the coffee cup
Root toot tooty, root toot tooty, why
Somewhere up there in a tower, there’s another happy hour
Root toot tooty, root toot tooty, why
There’s lovers on a bus, loking very much like us
Root toot tooty, root toot tooty, why
There’s one out on a limb, and he don’t know where to begin
Root toot tooty, root toot tooty, why
Root toot tooty, root toot tooty, why
Root toot tooty, root toot tooty
Root toot toot, rooty tooty toot toot
Root toot tooty, why
